Okay, I’m going out a limb here, but how many of you photographers out there get texts like this? In 2 different photography forums this morning alone, I see people having this issue. I’m admittedly shocked as this is not…

I have TONS to edit (still haven’t found the perfect company to outsource my editing yet) so I’ll make this brief. As much as my regular clients rock (and they DO!), I want to say how much I enjoy working with and for other photographers. They are always so understanding, they know how to make…

Now that my daughter is almost 14 (good lord, where has the time gone?), I often find myself struggling to remember what kids do at certain ages. If I’m preparing for a session with a 3 month old, I ask myself, “What did Sidney do when she was 3 months old? Was she sitting up,…
Pin Itand what a wonderful painter she is! great images Erica, love the first 2
Well thank you very much, Lauren.
:)
What a doll!! Wonderful photos!!! What a great memory for her too!!
Thank you, Betsy. It’s so much easier to photograph kids in their natural element.

I thought it might be fun to give potential clients a little outline of what a session with me is like. I also thought that there might other photographers who might like to read this to compare and contrast what I do, with what a session with them is like. By all means, if you…
Pin ItThe kids….on the bed…equals PERFECTION! Of course we won’t have any of those, but I am so excited for our session in October!!!!
Great job! I really like your outline (especially the comment about the “proverbial 8×10″ – I’m sure it will help your clients know what to expect
Thanks for the article! That’s a great way to organize your session. Many times I do the creative shots first, but I like your suggestion to do the (less exciting) group/individual shots first. You are right…Those are the ones that clients end up ordering for their walls and/or grandparents. If you crank those out first thing then everyone can loosen up and get a little crazy with the fun shots!
Thank you so much for stopping by, Amanda!
Thank you so much, Jessica. It’s good to be open with clients as well as hear their thoughts and ideas.
I can’t wait either, Mandy!!

It’s The Hamm Family! They are loooong time clients of mine. Like most of my clients, Kelly and Josh were ready to go upon my arrival. Equipped with outfit changes, ideas, and locations which makes the process so much easier. It was a perfect meld of client/photographer inspiration. Other than a rescheduling due to some…

It’s What to Wear time! As always, these are just a guide. Each client is unique in their own way and my clients have always been able to knock it out of the park when it comes to choosing their outfits for picture day. Every now and then, we all need a little help and…

Since I began my ‘official’ photography career, I really have had the best luck with clients. I don’t know if it’s the particular area in which I live, my personality, or the way I market to my target audience, but I seem to attract the absolute most fun, most relaxed, and happiest clients. The Formells…

My dear client and friend is expecting the newest addition to their lovely family. Ivonne is going to be a big sister…and what a GREAT one she’ll be! It was a very windy afternoon, but true to form, we made it work. That’s always been my philosophy. Rain, snow, wind, no light? We will MAKE…

The weather is getting warmer and my schedule is filling up! On the blog this evening are the adorable kids of 2 of my lovely clients; Erica and Lacie. Love those girls! I showed up and they were so prepared! Everything you see (all of the props and clothes) were theirs and laid out, ready…

WOW! Thank you SOOO much, Jessica. I’m grateful and thankful you stopped by my ‘little ol’ blog’.
Goodness gracious. These are so precious, Erica! Every photo of yours I see I’m just stunned by your use of lighting. Your images all look so soft and sweet. I love the one with the moustaches.
Thank you SO much, Marizona. I’m glad you liked this set. <3

“hello i was looking through some of your photography, and im amazed at how clear your pictures are. i love your work, and i was wondering if you could give me some tips? thank you! ” I get asked this question frequently and decided to just respond via blog post in order to share the…

Love how you made the point about piknik and picasa without being rude or arrogant as I have read others!! Thought it was great how you offered info about the trial download of LR, very thoughtful and caring! I <3 LR. Very well written, not arrogant or boss…but friendly and informative!
Great post! Thank you for sharing. It’s good to hear that someone who I think is amazing is still practicing. It gives me hope!
Thank you so much for commenting Erin. I think it’s important to remember, we are ALL still learning.
No one is exempt from that rule. <3
Heather, I’m so grateful you took the time to comment. Seriously. I honestly believe that we are all just trying to do the best we can with what we have and if what we have can offer some insight, we should share. That’s all I’m trying to do. Maybe some people are on a different path and my help doesn’t mean much, but I firmly believe that there’s someone out there that might be on the same path as me. So I hope that the info I share, can help them. <3
Love this!!! Its a great post about the TRUTH! It does happen and it happens all to frequently. I had it happen to me with a wedding last year for my bro-in-law and I didn’t even get acknowledgment for the images they posted on fb. =( It’s hurtful and it’s easier to keep being family/friends seperate from business. =) Be honest and be strong! Thank you again for this post!!!! <3's
That bites, Trina! Sorry that happened to you. Chalk it up to lesson learned, right?
I agree with you. Be honest and be strong. <3
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. It means a lot.
Very well-written! And very true. Thanks for sharing.
