Setting Personal Boundaries in Your Business | Macomb, Illinois Wedding Photographer Erica Clark

Okay, I’m going out a limb here, but how many of you photographers out there get texts like this?                               In 2 different photography forums this morning alone, I see people having this issue. I’m admittedly shocked as this is not…

Love this!!! Its a great post about the TRUTH! It does happen and it happens all to frequently. I had it happen to me with a wedding last year for my bro-in-law and I didn’t even get acknowledgment for the images they posted on fb. =( It’s hurtful and it’s easier to keep being family/friends seperate from business. =) Be honest and be strong! Thank you again for this post!!!! <3's

That bites, Trina! Sorry that happened to you. Chalk it up to lesson learned, right?
I agree with you. Be honest and be strong. <3
Thank you for stopping by and commenting. It means a lot. :)

How I Started My Photography Business… | Macomb Galesburg Quincy Peoria Wedding Photographer Erica Clark

I received an email today that is very similar to several emails I’ve received in the past. I thought maybe it would be a good idea to blog about it so that other people could (hopefully) benefit from it. It is NOT meant to be discouraging. In fact, if I can do it, so can…

What to Expect at a Session | Macomb Illinois Family Photographer

I thought it might be fun to give potential clients a little outline of what a session with me is like. I also thought that there might other photographers who might like to read this to compare and contrast what I do, with what a session with them is like. By all means, if you…

The kids….on the bed…equals PERFECTION! Of course we won’t have any of those, but I am so excited for our session in October!!!!

Jessica Dingledy - May 31, 2012 - 2:45 pm

Great job! I really like your outline (especially the comment about the “proverbial 8×10″ – I’m sure it will help your clients know what to expect :)

Amanda Worrall - May 31, 2012 - 3:05 pm

Thanks for the article! That’s a great way to organize your session. Many times I do the creative shots first, but I like your suggestion to do the (less exciting) group/individual shots first. You are right…Those are the ones that clients end up ordering for their walls and/or grandparents. If you crank those out first thing then everyone can loosen up and get a little crazy with the fun shots!

admin - May 31, 2012 - 7:37 pm

Thank you so much for stopping by, Amanda! :)

admin - May 31, 2012 - 7:40 pm

Thank you so much, Jessica. It’s good to be open with clients as well as hear their thoughts and ideas.

I can’t wait either, Mandy!! :)

a word on pricing… | Macomb Quincy Peoria Illinois Photographer

Rather than do an entire post on pricing in the macro sense, let’s look specifically at the cost of one single 4×6. So why does a 4×6 cost “X”? Great question! One that certainly deserves an answer. Here’s why: – If someone orders one 4×6 from me and I don’t charge enough to make a…

Cute packaging! Think the article is well written. Think it should also be noted without profit we cant build and be better and your $8.50 won’t cover insurance and fees and stuff we have to pay as photographers or any business craft or any run out of your home. :)

It Was the Best of Times… | Macomb Quincy Peoria, Illinois Photographer

Man did we have fun tonight. We laughed, we commiserated, and we laughed some more. Tonight at the photography meet up, we had so much fun. At least I like to think we did. Honestly, the time flew by. Sometimes when you’re feeling down about no matter what, all it takes to bring a smile…

Great post! Thank you for sharing. It’s good to hear that someone who I think is amazing is still practicing. It gives me hope! :)

admin - April 6, 2012 - 9:31 pm

Thank you so much for commenting Erin. I think it’s important to remember, we are ALL still learning. :) No one is exempt from that rule. <3

admin - April 6, 2012 - 9:35 pm

Heather, I’m so grateful you took the time to comment. Seriously. I honestly believe that we are all just trying to do the best we can with what we have and if what we have can offer some insight, we should share. That’s all I’m trying to do. Maybe some people are on a different path and my help doesn’t mean much, but I firmly believe that there’s someone out there that might be on the same path as me. So I hope that the info I share, can help them. <3

wall art vs. gift print…there is a difference | Macomb Quincy Peoria Illinois Photographer

Dear Clients, This illustration is for you. A helpful guide to show the difference between “wall art” and a “gift print”. Gift prints are meant  for gift giving, for desks, or for wall groupings. Look how the 8×10 is not only dwarfed by the wall art, but by the room itself! That 8×10 belongs on…

let’s talk about sizes… | Macomb Quincy Galesburg Illinois Family Photographer

So what exactly is a “gift print” and how is it different from “wall art”. Gift prints are sizes that you would normally give for a gift, 8×10 and smaller. In general, gift prints are considered too small for wall art. Wall art sizes typically begin at 16×20. Illustrated here are examples of a variety…

my time with jasmine star | Macomb Illinois Wedding Photographer

Recently I had the pleasure of hearing my favorite wedding photographer, Jasmine Star, speak in Chicago. It all seem to happen in slow motion, but in retrospect, it seems like it went by so fast that it’s all a blur. I really was star struck. Okay, to clarify, Jasmine Star was on a tour called…

“So, for me, walking away from the Fix knowing I was making the right decisions, was just one of many ways I gained confidence, and that my friends…is PRICELESS.”
Sooooooo AWESOME!!!
What an experience
Wonderful photos Erica!
Love her smile!

Oh Heather, thank you so much for stopping by. Your support means so much.
I truly did learn a lot at the Fix, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t feel good just nodding my head to so many things she said. There’s value in confirmation. I believe that. <3
