World Breastfeeding Week ~ 2 Book Giveaways! | Macomb Quincy Galesburg Maternity Newborn Photographer Erica Clark

The first week of August is celebrated by mothers, health care officials, and breastfeeding proponents all over the world as World Breastfeeding Week.

La Lech League International is an international organization created by 7 women in 1958 in order to provide information and support to breastfeeding mothers. “Our Mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.”

Here in Macomb, we have a phenomenal LLL chapter headed by Donnice Hamilton and my dear friend Shannon McKee.

In honor of World Breastfeeding Week, I’d like to donate a copy of La Leche League‘s national best seller and 2012 Reader’s Choice Award recipient: The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, to our local LLL chapter.

In addition, I’d like to donate a copy of The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding to a random commenter on this blog post.

“This international best selling breastfeeding book is part how-to and part mothers sharing their stories. This has made this book a classic baby shower gift. ” -About.com

If you or someone you know is looking for the perfect baby shower gift, I highly recommend visiting The LLL Shop.

To learn more about La Leche League International, you can visit their website, follow them on Pinterest, find them on Facebook, or visit your local chapter.

Although I didn’t breastfeed my daughter, I wish I had. I gave birth to my daughter 14yrs. ago in rural Germany. Social media was non existent, there was a language barrier, and natural frustration were all a reality for me.

If I had known about the options available to me, I might have made different choices.

I want all moms to feel like they have a significant support group when learning to breastfeed. To learn more about breastfeeding visit any of the following links and remember, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” M. Mead

I am about 18 weeks pregnant with my first and I plan on breastfeeding. Winning this would be a great opportunity for me to get to know you as a fellow photographer abd get to have my maternity shots done by you. :)

One of the things I am looking forward to about being a mother is bonding with my son during breastfeeding. I wish we had a LLL chapter in Quincy.
